Biography
Adam Buker was born in Laramie, Wyoming on October 22, 1983. He is the third son of John and Connie Buker. Soon after he was born, the family moved outside of Ava, Illinois where Adam spent most of his childhood.
At the age of thirteen, Adam began studying classical piano with Robert Evans. Evans taught Adam an appreciation of classical music that has deeply influenced his style of composition. Two years later, Adam began further study with Ilia Radoslovav which continued until his graduation from Trico High School in 2002. During this time Adam read The Fountainhead, by Ayn Rand thus beginning his long journey toward learning and understanding Objectivism.
After graduating high school, Adam attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he pursued a Bachelor's degree in music composition studying under Professor Frank Stemper. After enduring personal moral struggles and severe financial constraints, Adam decided to drop out of college in 2006 to start over. Though he did not complete his degree, he has scored five student films and still writes new music when the mood strikes him.
In 2007, Adam moved to Springfield, MO to continue the process of re-shaping his life. In the spring of 2010 he married his wife, and the two had a child the following year. “It was really the birth of my daughter that inspired me to write the Organon series of books. I wanted her to have a heroine that could inspire her the same way that Roark (from The Fountainhead) had inspired me during my teenage years.”
In the process of writing his novel, the need to present a fictionalized society based off of a compromised version of Objectivism led Adam to radically rethink certain aspects of the philosophy in real life. This has led in turn to the creation of a new philosophy named Integra which is based in part off of Objectivism yet incorporates new ideas and reworks aspects of the philosophy. He hopes to make it possible for anyone who studies Integra to discover and nurture the best within themselves as they seek to become joyful, creative, loving, intuitive beings who guides their actions by reason and can shape themselves and the world around them into the very image of their own highest ideals.
In his spare time Adam enjoys reading, cooking, collecting record albums, coffee, and spending time with his family. Adam currently lives in Springfield, MO with his wife and children.
