Meditations
I wrote this as a sort of personal mantra that I can recite to myself on a regular basis as needed. Each stanza focuses on either reminding myself of my personal value or of setting a right frame of mind. This is the path that I wish to set for myself and for my children by means of my example.
Sometimes it is easy to berate ourselves for not being morally perfect. Perhaps you might find yourself trying to be moral out of a sense of obligation rather than understanding that morality is supposed to help you lead a good life. This serves as a self-reminder that the purpose of this morality is life itself, that moral living is the pathway to true joy in life.
This meditation is a poetic reflection of how each of the virtues serves the life of the rational being and how the virtues themselves are integrated into a consistent whole. Beyond the primary virtue of Rationality, the other virtues have no hierarchal status because to violate one is to violate them all. Achieving consistency in one's practice of morality can be difficult yet every act of virtue however small encourages further improvement.
There is no human realm of endeavor that is exempt from human error. Morality is no different. At some point you will make the wrong choice or give in to a temptation that you know you should not give into. It is not the fact that you will fail that marks your character, it is what you decide to do with that failure that marks your character as a person. While there are actions that cannot be redeemed, there are few people whose character cannot be redeemed.
So wherever you are in life, there is still hope that you can become a better man or a better woman. Don't give up on yourself.

I publish this one here but not without a few misgivings. First this meditation focuses on deeply abstract issues of epistemology and metaphysical axioms. Second, the poetic nature of this meditation is likely to lead to misinterpretation without further contextualizing. However, if you are already familiar with Objectivist thought regarding metaphysics and epistemology, then you might be able to infer what my intentions were. Such as it is, I will at some point reword or rework this meditation into something that is both clearer in execution and is more useful for its purpose.
These meditations are short little poems I composed while contemplating my own life after reflecting on my personal struggles, failures, and successes. Feel free to download and share these for your own personal use.
