The Seven Gates of Virtue

Reason
The way of Reason stands at the gate leading to all paths.
It seeks truth. It seeks clarity.
Like a knife, it cuts all contradictions.
It binds the mind to the truth of reality.
It brings harmony to the soul.

Honesty
A mind bound to reality is Honest.
It is not prey to delusions of self or others.
Truth is the eternally loyal ally,
and the most ruthless enemy.

Integrity
An honest mind makes an honest man.
An honest man is consistent in his word and action.
He has Integrity.
Allied with truth, he is immune from the poison sting of vice.

Independence
A man of integrity knows truth.
He places nothing and no one above the verdict of his mind.
He does not let others think for him.
He has Independence.
Reliant on himself, he is the strongest of men.

Productiveness
A man of independence seeks his own happiness.
Not to be found in idleness or vice,
but in creative work.
Through this he earns everything that he has.
He is Productive.

Justice
A productive man requires
no more and no less
than his rightful due
expecting the same from all men.
He does not suffer fools or frauds but
pities vice as self-destruction
He smiles upon the virtuous.
He is just.

Benevolence
A just, productive, honest man
is at peace with himself.
He is patient with himself.
He shows goodwill towards mankind.
He does not anger or hate
without reason.
He does not allow others
to disturb the peace of his soul.

A man of Reason
who is Honest
who has Integrity
who is Independent
who is Productive
who is Just
who shows Benevolence
is he who finds no gate barring the Way.

His every action
his every thought
his every step
his every word
along the road of virtue
will lead to his path
and his happiness.
