I am worth being saved.
I am worth fighting for
against all enemies
even those that live inside me.


My bad actions
dreadful decisions
do not have to define me any longer.
I can choose differently.
I can act differently.
But I must think differently.


No one is coming to save me,
so I must stand up.
I will fight for myself.
I have a right to exist
and I will claim it.


I have sinned against
my nature as a man
I have sinned against my values
have sinned against others in my life.


Out of this mess of my making
I will forge myself into something better.
Within my soul,
within my mind,
within my body,
I accept my task
to forge a new integrity
borne of love and reason.


I will make restitution such as I am able
to those I have wronged
to those I have hurt
to those I have caused pain.
Even if this task be impossible,
I will never cease
trying to make things right.


Through my own moral death and rebirth
I will rise again like a phoenix.
Not the same man
but better.
I shall become
a man of complete virtue.
